Equitable learning; equal accessibility of resources and inclusive education which implies the recognition, acceptance and accommodation of diversity in classroom are still nightmares to South African learners. Different schools possess different resources but receive common national tests. It has been stipulated in the National curriculum statement purposes and aims that practical skills should be inculcated in the curriculum to strengthen the connection between theoretical part of the learning area and its practicability. This is still a dream in rural schools, nevertheless. South African policy documents that serve to govern day-to-day activities in classroom, CAPS does not take into consideration the nature of contextual factors educators and learners experienced in classroom. The curriculum is based on universal principle that all schools possess same science apparatus and infrastructure. In addition, purchasing practical material using norms and standards fees immediately subjects schools into financial crisis. Who could blame them? It is difficult or rather impossible for the government to supply fundamental material all schools at the same time due to economic obstacles under which our country is laying currently. This situation shapes a new pedagogic style of an educator. When an educator has no tangible material to authenticate learning, we as educators improvise.

The usage of software bridges the gap between the theory and the practical work for those having no access to the real apparatus of learning areas. However, the success of software into rectifying misconceptions and mediating learners’ understanding lies in the skills and knowledge of an educator. It is thus vital that educators engage in Professional Development Networks which serves to edit current inequities in schools through incorporation of software tools.

Activity brief (to be drafted using google forms and educators have to fill and submit)....
Before getting deeply into the use of simulations, you have read theories underlying this course, you are therefore tasked to investigate more about the highlighted concepts in relation to simulations. In other words, you have to define and explain the words and provide a summary on the importance of simulations in connection with the terminologies. Firstly, provide a brief summary of what simulations are, then use the concepts below.
Important concepts to focus on:
§ Equitable learning
§ Inclusive education
§ Authentic learning
§ Improvisation

N.B. All these must be discussed with reference to a science classroom.

Exercise 2 (linking Orientation content)
You have been introduced to Google drive. Now follow the instructions below.

The sources you have collected in this week have to be uploaded on Google Drive. Create a folder and name it entitle it your name and the word 'simulations' , for example; LinfordSimulations. Within this folder, create another folder and name it"Week 1 Sources". Upload all sources you have used in the week "documents, files, videos and images." Please share the file with me on (linford.mldi@gmail.com).
